The pelletized dust was used for park flooring or covering landfill surfaces. However, now that various uses have been found for this dust, microsilica has emerged as a byproduct of this process. This shift is due to the recognition of the properties of microsilica and the development of technology for its use.

Microsilica is an odorless, non-flammable material that is stable at ambient pressure and temperature. Its specific weight ranges from 400 to 600 kilograms per cubic meter. This material comes in white and gray colors, with its hue typically varying from light gray to dark gray.
